Some thirty-five years ago, Down Under Native Orchids (DUNO) was founded. With humble beginnings, the orchid community witnessed the birthing of hybrids that would change the DNA of Aussie natives forever. Phena and the late Brian Gerhard owned Down Under for over fifteen years, under their guidance saw DUNO branch out into the New Zealand and USA markets as well as continuing the themes of previous work alongside numerous new lines of breeding. Phena and Brian created some of the best-known Australian native orchids to date with countless awards, registrations, and achievements. In 2015 Callyn Farrell and Grahame Young re-booted Down Under Native Orchids. In 2021/22 DUNO was re-located once more to the Lower Hunter Valley, NSW.
